With the pressure of rising gas prices, bad economy, and less spare time in peoples’ lives, it is becoming harder and harder to find a good deal on plane tickets. Plane tickets aren’t the only things suffering, there are also tremendous hikes on hotels, ground transportation, and even tolls. If you’re going to travel, you might as well save cash and fly on the cheapest day possible.
The cheapest days to fly are certainly Tuesday and wednesday. According to CDTF, those are the cheapest days to fly because of the fact that there are a much larger sum of people flying on all the other days. If you want to save money on air travel, it would be best to fly on tuesdays and wednesdays.
Even if you cannot fly on the cheapest day, be sure to attempt to fly on another day that isn’t quite cheap but not the most expensive. Friday without a doubt is probably the most expensive day to fly on. This can be for a number of reasons such as: being the end of the week, avoiding the unfinished tasks of mid-week, having to take less “personal days” from work, and even just because it is the last day of the week.
One major reason NOT to fly on friday is………TRAFFIC! Have you ever been late to something on a friday just because of the sheer number of people trying to get home and begin their weekend? I know I sure have! I highly suggest you skip the nuisance of commuting to an airport on friday just because it isn’t worth risking being late or even potentially missing your flight.
What are the cheapest days to fly?The cheapest days to fly are tuesday and wednesday according to Cheapest days to fly. Why you may ask? it's because they are the days least flown on. I bet you were planning on flying on a Friday or a Monday, weren't you? Well those are probably the most expensive days to fly on since everybody wants to fly on those days!
Those are the most popular days to fly on because many people end their work week on a friday and start it on a Monday, that way if they fly on those two days, they can depart on Friday and return on Monday. It may be easier for your schedule to fly on those days but it definitely won't be easier on your wallet.
I believe the single cheapest day to fly is on a wednesday because even less people fly on Wednesday than on Tuesday! This is probably because Wednesday is right in the middle of the week and people usually don't like to throw off their schedule midweek to travel. It's just not convenient!
If you plan on saving money flying, for sure try to get a flight scheduled for one of the two cheapest days to fly. If you're desperate, Wednesday is the day to go. Just remember, like I said in my last post, flight prices are constantly changing so any given Wednesday or Tuesday has the possibility to be more expensive than a Friday in instances such as when there's a four day weekend coming up ahead! I'd love to know what you guys think of the airlines you have traveled with, feel free to comment below and let me know how your experience was with a particular airline.
